About the program
The Power of One Youth Program guides youth on their way to becoming self-sufficient and productive adults in their communities. The program achieves its goals by placing youth in regular employment, helping them receive a high school diploma or equivalent and transitioning them into higher education.
Program eligibility
Based on the WIA (Workforce Investment Act) of 1998 guidelines, youth must:
- Be between the ages of 17 to 21
- A resident of the Northeast Los Angeles area, 90026, 90031, 90032, 90033, 90039, 90041, 90042, 90065,*90023, *90063 (*indicates partial service area, call for more information)
- Be in the low-income bracket
- Have barriers to employment (i.e., basic skills in either English or Math below 8.9 level, parenting youth, ex-offender, homeless, etc.)
- Be a legal resident of the U.S.
- Males 18 and over must be registered with Selective Service
