Like most 12-year-olds, my son is a big fan of electronics, so the thought of typing on actual paper has always fascinated him. On a recent  rainy day, I decided to take him over to the Goodwill on Beverly Blvd. in W. Hollywood, to see if we could find a typewriter.   There on the shelf was a Smith Corona in perfect condition.  He spent the entire afternoon writing, and continues to love it, so much that it often trumps even the XBox as a way to spend time.  Thank you Goodwill for finding new homes for so many of my old things, and for bringing classic moments like that to life!  D. A friend of mine has been telling me how rewarding Goodwill shopping can be, being thrifty without sacrificing style.  My wife and I have five girls, and visits to Goodwill are not a new concept to us.  However, I recently caught the fashion bug for my own clothing needs!  My wife, Christy and I visited the Sherman Oaks store, and I found an entire Sunday outfit for an amazing price!  You can bet we’ll be heading back often to help keep our family warm and stylish!  The more stores you visit, the more variety you’ll find.  It’s a blast to travel from store to store and do some treasure hunting!  D.  Thank you for all the great finds at your stores.  My daughter Tiffany has a great stuffed animal collection and she finds many animals from your Glendora store.  She has been collecting stuffed toys for many years and the retail prices are too high, so your stores are the place to shop!  C.  We are a family of book lovers – and my husband and I were so excited to find a complete “Great Books” set at Goodwill.  Our children marveled at the gorgeous books and the stories contained in them.  When my husband’s job was very badly affected by the economy and his salary was reduced by twenty percent, books became more important than ever as there was no money for movies, vacations, etc.  We found a junior great books set at Goodwill which has ignited our family – instead of mourning because we can’t go out, we are having discussions about classics, and growing in wisdom and judgment together.  This is an expensive set of books which we could never have afforded – and which we are so blessed to have!!!!! My boyfriend and I were invited to a formal dinner.  I had purchased the dress a few days prior, even though at the time I didn’t have any reason to own something so fancy (but how can you pass up a dress like that when it’s only $4?!).   Then we realized that my boyfriend needed a suit, so to Goodwill we ran!  We found a suit, shirt and tie quite easily.  Both outfits were purchased at Goodwill for a combined price of about $20!  Which was great because we spent all the money we saved on our attire on a great night!  Thank you Goodwill for helping us make some great memories!  C.
