The South Valley WorkSource Center empowers you to take charge of your job search. With a comprehensive Career Resource Center for individual pursuit and certified Career Development Facilitators to assist you, you can be on your way to a better job in no time!

Should you need additional services to obtain employment, we also offer:

Intensive Career Counseling and Training Services

To receive one-on-one staff assisted services, eligibility must be determined and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program paperwork must be completed. Some of our services include:

  • Staff-assisted Job Search, Placement and Follow-up Counseling.
  • Pre-employment Workshops: Identifying Transferable Skills, Resume Writing, Career Decision-Making and Goal Setting, Selling Yourself in the Interview.
  • Comprehensive Vocational Assessment
  • Development of Individual Employment Plan
  • Individual Counseling and Career Planning
  • Counseling provided in several languages - English & Spanish
  • Limited Work Experience
  • Occupational Skills Training (subject to the County of Los Angeles guidelines)

Services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who provide the necessary documentation to meet eligibility requirements
(if applicable)

Programs are designed to assist those with significant barriers to employment first. These barriers may include:

  • Low income
  • History of incarceration or substance abuse
  • A disability
  • Laid off or Terminated
  • Poor work history

Orientation

There are three ways to become acquainted with the services offered:

#1 – You may attend a group orientation offered in English every Tuesday, 10-11 am, or Spanish, every Tuesday, 11-12 pm

#2 - An individual can view our PowerPoint orientation (on the computer) anytime during business hours, M, T, Th, F - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Wed - 8 am to 6:30 pm, and every 3rd Sat – 9 am to 1 pm.

#3 - An individual can schedule a one-on-one orientation with our Career Resource Assistants by calling (661) 265-7421.

Informational Workshops are offered on an on-going basis, and are designed to:

  • Enhance your job-searching skills
  • Provide resources and information to assist your personal and professional development

Access to Universal Services for Individuals with Disabilities

Individuals with low vision can access the computers and the Internet using the following adaptive equipment/software:

  • Zoom Text
  • Jaws
  • Large Screen Monitors
To read printed documents we have a Closed Caption Television (CCTV) available and information can be copied in large print.

Individuals with hearing impairments can access our phone bank using our TTY and volume enhancer.

We have Wynn Wizard available for those individuals who have learning and/or visual impairments.

The Dragon Naturally Speaking software, and other adaptive keyboards/mouse available for those who cannot use the standard equipment.

We have height-adjustable tables and wireless keyboard for those in wheelchairs.

Workshops are offered in English and Spanish, if needed. Staff will be available to interpret American Sign Language (ASL).
