Community Heroes Spartan Donation Drive Goodwill Industries International and Goodwill Southern California’s 2017 cause marketing partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment on the worldwide theatrical release of Spider-Man: Homecoming was the third partnership with the Sony Group, following the popular Hotel Transylvania 2 and Ghostbusters movies. The partnership featured a nationwide DIY Spider-Man suit contest, kicked off with videos created by YouTube influencers, filmed in the Playa Vista YouTube studios, with sets including decor pulled from Goodwill Southern California stores. The winning Spider-Man suits were featured at the worldwide premiere. The partnership included co-branded in-store graphics as well as special premiere tickets for some lucky Goodwill SoCal social media contest winners. PARTNERSHIP REPORT © & ™2017 MARVEL. ©2017 CPII. San Manuel Band of Mission Indians A generous $3.4 million grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, announced in May, 2017, is providing education, training, work experience, and job placement services for job seekers in the Inland Empire. The grant funds are being invested in building Goodwill Southern California’s regional and organizational capacity to help bridge gaps in community services for job seekers with high levels of unemployment. USC Trojan Outreach Donation Drive In May 2017, the USC Trojan Outreach program partnered with Goodwill Southern California to host a “Spring Cleaning for Good” event on the USC campus. Donation bins were distributed throughout dorms, and students responded by donating 24,000 pounds of gently used goods. The drive was a great opportunity to reach a new generation of Goodwill donors and shoppers and convey our mission to students.
