Services are personalized and may include career counseling, job readiness training, resume and interview support, job search and placement assistance, assistive technology, self-employment guidance, and post-employment support. The program may also include job coaching, or other similar supports to ensure long-term success, helping individuals build skills, confidence, and independence in the workplace.

STEP

STEP is a collaboration between the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) and the Foundation for California Community Colleges (Foundation CCC). The program provides students with disabilities (ages 16–21) with 100 hours of paid work experience, along with job readiness training and self-advocacy development. Students gain hands-on experience, build skills and confidence, and explore career paths, supporting a successful transition into competitive, integrated employment. Our existing STEP program is in coordination with the East San Gabriel Valley AJCC and serves students throughout the East San Gabriel Valley region

Situational Assessment

The purpose of the Situational Assessment is to determine skills, abilities, work behaviors and motivation as well as to identify barriers to employment. The Situational Assessment provides the opportunity for Individuals to experience actual work in their local community. You will get to work for a short while at a community business or within a Goodwill site. The location will be chosen based on your work goals and their availability. A Goodwill staff member will be with you on the job at all times to help you and to note how well you are doing.

Paid Internship Program (PIP)

The PIP offers paid, community-based internships for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aligned with their career interests. Individuals gain hands-on work experience, develop job-specific and soft skills, and build confidence, with the goal of transitioning to permanent employment—either with the same employer or elsewhere. Internships can last up to 1,040 hours per year.

Student Work Experience (Student WEX)

Designed for students ages 16–21 who are currently enrolled in school, this program provides 100 hours of paid, hands-on work experience. Individuals develop foundational job skills, build confidence and self-advocacy, explore career options, earn employer references, practice money management, and learn workplace expectations. The goal is to prepare students for future employment.
